Part 2. Reading – Emma’s Daily Routine

Emma is a nurse, and she has a very busy daily routine. She usually gets up at 6:30 in the morning, but on some days she wakes up even earlier. First, she has a quick shower, brushes her teeth, and gets dressed. She chooses comfortable clothes because she spends many hours walking around the hospital. At 7:00, she has breakfast. She normally eats toast and fruit, and she drinks a cup of tea. Sometimes, when she feels tired, she makes a second cup.

At 7:30, Emma goes to work. She lives close to the hospital, so she walks there. She always starts work at 8:00. Her mornings are very active. She talks to patients, checks their temperature, writes reports, and helps the doctors with many small tasks. Even though her job is busy, Emma likes the morning energy at the hospital. She has lunch at 12:30 in the hospital cafeteria. She usually eats soup, a small salad, and fruit. She sometimes meets her coworker Lisa during lunch, and they talk about their day.

Emma finishes work at 4:00 in the afternoon. After work, she usually goes home and relaxes for a short time. She sits on the sofa, listens to music, or checks her messages. At around 6:00, she cooks dinner. She likes pasta, vegetables, and sometimes fish. On Fridays, she often orders food because she feels too tired to cook.

In the evening, Emma enjoys quiet activities. She sometimes watches TV, but only for a short time. Her favorite way to relax is reading. She often reads a book in the evening, especially mystery stories. She doesn’t stay up late because she wakes up early the next day. She usually goes to bed at 10:00. Before she sleeps, she always thinks about the people she helped during the day.

Even though Emma is often tired, she feels proud of her work. She likes her routine because it helps her stay organized. She also feels happy because she helps people every day, and that gives her motivation for the next morning.
